Georgia Discovery & Innovation Academy
Launching August 2026 — Public Charter Microschool Program (Grades 3–12)
Georgia Discovery & Innovation Academy will open in August 2026 as a public charter microschool serving students in grades 3 through 12. The school is designed to provide a student-centered learning environment that integrates technology, project-based learning, and personalized instructional supports. Our mission is to prepare students to become innovative thinkers, problem-solvers, and future leaders by connecting rigorous academics with real-world learning experiences.
Instruction at Georgia Discovery & Innovation Academy is built around interdisciplinary, project-based learning that encourages students to explore meaningful questions and solve authentic problems. Students participate in hands-on learning experiences that integrate science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and the humanities. Through collaborative projects, research, and design challenges, students develop critical thinking, creativity, and communication skills while applying academic knowledge to real-world situations.
Technology plays a central role in the academy’s instructional model. Classrooms incorporate digital tools, innovation labs, and technology-rich learning experiences that allow students to design, build, and test solutions to real-world challenges. These experiences help students develop technological literacy, adaptability, and problem-solving skills that are essential for success in college, careers, and the modern workforce.
Georgia Discovery & Innovation Academy is also intentionally designed to support students with diverse learning profiles, including neurodiverse learners such as those with dyslexia, ADHD, autism, and other learning differences. The school utilizes flexible learning structures, smaller learning communities, and differentiated instructional strategies that allow educators to meet students where they are academically while maintaining high expectations for achievement. Assistive technologies and inclusive instructional practices will help ensure that all students have access to rigorous and meaningful learning opportunities.
The academy is also pursuing a pending partnership with a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) to expand opportunities for students in areas such as technology, research, mentorship, and early college exposure. This partnership will help provide students with pathways to higher education, career exploration, and leadership development while strengthening the school’s commitment to academic excellence and community engagement.
Through the integration of technology, project-based learning, inclusive instructional practices, and higher education partnerships, Georgia Discovery & Innovation Academy seeks to cultivate curiosity, confidence, and innovation while preparing students to thrive in college, careers, and civic life.
Let’s partner to bring a quality educational option to Richmond County!
